What it is

An S-curve is a line that bends one way and then the other as it travels through the frame, like a road over hills or a river across a valley. The eye follows it from the front to the back at an easy pace, which gives the picture depth and a gentle rhythm. The curve works best when it starts at the bottom of the frame and winds toward the horizon. A high viewpoint often shows the shape more clearly than one at ground level. How to shoot it

Find a road, river or path that bends at least once and runs from near your feet into the distance. Hold the phone at eye level; 0.5× to 1.5× fits the whole curve.
