Triangle, Apex Down: two behind, one in front

What it is

A triangle standing on its point has two objects at the back and one closer to the camera. It feels less settled than a triangle on its base, with a hint of tension or movement, and it pulls the eye to the front object first. That makes it useful when one item matters most: the dish you ordered, the gift on top, the cup in your hand. The two behind act as the supporting cast and set the scene. Seen from above at about 45 degrees, the depth between front and back is easy to read.

A product in front of two smaller props

How to shoot it

Set two things at the back and one in front, then look down at about 45 degrees.
As part of Camera Grid Pro, the guide draws three target circles as a triangle with its point toward you, fixed in place.
Move the objects or the phone until the filled markers sit in the circles. If the shape is off, the coach asks you to spread them into a triangle.
Keep the angle near 45 degrees, and shoot when the ring turns green with a tap.

Common mistakes

Putting the least interesting object in front, where the eye lands first.
Spacing the back pair so widely that the front object looks isolated.
Shooting from eye level, where the front object hides the other two.

What does an upside-down triangle mean in composition?

A triangle standing on its point feels less stable than one on its base, so it adds tension and energy. It also leads the eye to the single point at the bottom, closest to the camera. Photographers use it to give one object priority over two supporting ones.

When does Camera Grid suggest Triangle, Apex Down instead of Triangle?

When it sees three objects from above and one already stands clearly in front of the other two. If they sit with two in front and one behind, it keeps the ordinary Triangle, apex up. Its target is the same triangle, turned point toward you.
